No.
We have many members that live in Iowa, Kansas, South
Dakota, and Missouri. Many
clubs have regular tournaments outside the state of
Nebraska, so you might want to look at a few club tournament
schedules on the website and find a club that fishes
tournaments near you.
Some clubs have requirements that you attend a
certain number of club events (tournaments, meetings, etc.).
Do I need to own a boat to join a club?
No.
Many members are non-boaters and co-anglers.
Some clubs desperately need more non-boaters and
co-anglers, but some clubs have too many.
The best way to find out is ask someone from the club
you want to join.
Most of our clubs will happily accept new non-boating
members.
Who do I need to contact if I want to
join a club?
The best way to join a club is to talk
to someone that is already in a Nebraska B.A.S.S. club and
see what it takes to join their club.
Each Nebraska B.A.S.S. club has a page on our website
and most of them have some brief information about their
club. Most of
the clubs have contact information displayed – phone
numbers, e-mail addresses, and some of them have their own
club website. If
you find a club you want to learn more about, don’t be
afraid to give them a call – most clubs will be happy to
hear from an angler wanting to join.
How much does it cost to join a club?
You will need to be a member of
B.A.S.S. and a member of the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation.
There are many benefits from joining B.A.S.S. and the
B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, including eligibility to
participate in state B.A.S.S. tournaments, special insurance
benefits, subscriptions to Bassmaster and BASS Times
magazines, and an online subscription to Bass Insider.
You will be required to pay about $15 per year to be
a member of B.A.S.S. Each club is required to pay $50
per year and an additional $10 per member to the Federation.
There is also a $20 insurance fee that goes directly
to B.A.S.S. Each club will have a certain amount that
each member must pay per year to be a member of their club.
Your club dues are based on the amount of dues the club has
to pay to the Federation plus any additional dues required
to be a member of that particular club.
If you’re interested at all in joining a Nebraska
B.A.S.S. club, just call an officer from a club that you’re
interested in joining and they’ll tell you exactly how much
it will cost per year.
My child wants to join a Junior BASS
Club… how do I get him or her involved in one?
Unfortunately, the Nebraska B.A.S.S.
Federation only has two Junior BASS Clubs at this time.
The best advice we can give you is to call Dave Greer
at (402) 571-9516 and ask a lot of questions.
Dave is the Youth Director & Casting Kids officer and
should be able to give you some advice on getting your child
involved. You
may be able to get a date and location of the next Junior
BASS or Casting Kids event and have the opportunity for your
child to participate in the event.
Some of our clubs may already be very interested in
getting a Junior BASS Club started in their area, but
haven’t found enough kids to participate.
Our website is still very lacking in information
regarding Junior BASS Clubs, but we hope to eventually have
much more information and make it easier for people to get
their kids involved in Junior BASS Clubs and Casting Kids
events. Click
here to visit the B.A.S.S. Youth section of the BASS
website. There
you will find lots of information about Junior BASS Clubs
and Casting Kids events.
What are the “Open”, “State” and
“Regional” tournaments?
Can I attend these tournaments?
Federation Open Tournaments are open to
members of the Nebraska B.A.S.S. Federation, but
non-Federation members may enter as long as they are paired
up with a Federation member. Some
clubs hold their own open tournaments that may or may not be
open to non-Federation members.
The Nebraska State Tournament is our yearly tournament that
determines the members of our state team for the following
year’s Regional Tournament.
Each club can send up to eight anglers to the State
tournament. Each
individual club has its own way of deciding who gets to go
to the State Tournament.
It usually depends on who can get time off work to
go, who can afford to go, and who did the best in the
previous year’s club tournaments.
Our State Tournaments are currently on a rotating
schedule between Grand Lake (OK), Lake of the Ozarks (MO),
Table Rock Lake (MO), and Truman Reservoir (MO).
The top 12 anglers from the State Tournament have the
opportunity to participate in the Regional Tournament the
following year.
The best finishing Regional Tournament member from the
Nebraska team goes on to the National tournament for a
chance to be invited to participate in the Bassmaster
Classic.
How much does it cost to enter a
tournament?
Our State and Open Tournaments require
you to pay an entry fee.
Your entry fee goes towards the payouts for the top
finishing anglers and teams, paying the Federation’s
expenses for setting up the tournament, and for raising
funds for the Nebraska B.A.S.S. Federation.
The entry fees vary from tournament to tournament, depending
on the payouts and costs. Some individual clubs
may have funds set aside from their own fundraising projects
to help pay entry fees for their teams and anglers.
The cost of entering club level tournaments
completely depends on the club and how they have their
tournaments set up.
No, but we urge you to get involved with the projects of
your individual clubs. We hope to eventually have more
information on the website about each individual club so
each person can decide what club is best for them.
Some clubs are very serious about their individual projects
in their community, so these clubs would be great for people
that want to do more than just fish tournaments. Other
clubs may be more focused on bass fishing and tournaments,
so these clubs would be better for the people that just want
to fish. Chances are we have a club that's just right for
you.
